The opportunity

This is a unique role working at the intersection between University and College IT services to develop our offer across six campus sites, enhancing the digital experience of our students and staff. This role will involve working directly with Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree students in our open access facilities.

The successful candidate will participate in internal and external networks to ensure integration and delivery of college IT services. Maintain an awareness of developing applications and technologies, evaluating the impact on existing systems architecture, and the development of areas of specialisation. 

Provide a high quality one-to-one learning support on a daily basis, a high level of practical expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and Office 365, together with a broad understanding of complimentary digital technology and competencies is essential. Candidates will be required to deliver bespoke technical workshops to groups of staff and students with a wide range of ability and skill, in a variety of open access or other teaching spaces.

About you

We are looking for an engaged, enthusiastic individual to join our existing team of Specialist Technicians and Technical Assistants in Learning Technology Support, building upon existing work to create and develop a world-class learning experience for our students. The successful candidate will have experience in managing network infrastructure from LANs to WANs, Cisco certification (CCNA), or equivalent qualification and experience, with proven knowledge and understanding of network architecture and switch fabric.

The applicant will have a strong understanding of the evolving palette of digital technologies used in teaching and learning in Higher Education, also, have a good understanding of how to support those technologies from a service delivery point of view. In that context, the applicant will understand how to harness the intersection between IT, converged AV (AV over IP), IP video devices / streaming devices, and lecture capture.

The candidate should also have significant experience in hardware and software asset management, print management, mobile device management, content management systems and web server technologies.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously in a self-disciplined manner, whilst adhering to an extremely high standard of customer care, are essential characteristics for this role. The post holder should be highly proactive, well organised, command excellent interpersonal and supervisory skill while operating with a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration.
