The opportunity

Your main responsibilities will be the preparation, teaching and administration of the two-day ‘Thinking Teaching’ staff development course.

The ‘Thinking Teaching’ course has been designed to orient participants to the purpose and practice of teaching in higher education. It situates participants’ teaching in a meaningful context of practice and pedagogic theory and is geared towards UAL staff who are new to teaching/student-facing activity or who have minimal teaching roles.

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of arts educational development within a supportive environment and to enhance your career. You will work closely with other academic staff, including the Programme Director and Course Leaders of the PgCert and MA in Academic Practice in Art, Design and Communication.

About you

You will have knowledge and experience in educational development in the arts or related fields (e.g. social sciences or humanities). A teaching qualification is a requirement, as is a postgraduate degree in a related subject area. This will complemented by disciplinary knowledge and expertise; effective teamworking skills; and a commitment to enhancing the student experience.

Applicants should have:

  • extensive educational development experience, for example teaching on a PgCert in higher education
  • good awareness of HE teaching and learning in the creative arts
  • Fellowship of the HEA.

If you have any queries about this role, please contact the Academic Practice Programme Director, Catherine Smith at: c.h.smith@arts.ac.uk
