The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for two committed and motivated Library Assistants to join our friendly teams at CCW on a full time, fixed term basis. One role will be based at Camberwell College of Arts library and the other at Chelsea College of Arts library.

As a member of the Library Services team, you will also contribute to the development of high quality and student-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University.

Working collaboratively, you will participate in both front-line and administrative duties. You will assist users with initial information enquiries in person and online using our live chat service ASK. This includes helping with the use of Library materials, dealing with account queries, and supporting students with general purpose software.

In addition to this you will:

• Provide support for self-issue systems, IT and printing.
• Participate in stock-related duties such as retrieving and circulating items.
• Help maintain and care for our collections as needed.
• Assist with the production of promotional material and instructional guides to encourage students’ independent learning.
• Keep the library in good order in accordance with best health and safety practice and security guidelines.

The role will be working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day.  Normal working hours will be between 9.00am to 6.00pm but there can be a requirement to work any time during our core hours of 8.30am to 8.30pm. You will be required to work a variety of 9am starts or 6pm closes each week.

There might be limited opportunities to work from home dependent on operational needs but onsite working will be the main focus for this role.

About you

We are looking for someone with a compassionate and student-centred approach and the apointee will also need to be flexible and adaptable to changing service needs along with a strong ability to collaborate.

You should have relevant library or customer service experience, and formal training to post 16 level. You will be a good communicator with excellent written skills and good IT skills, including Microsoft office. Working in a team, you will provide a positive and responsive customer service.

Knowledge and experience within a Higher Education institution is desirable but not essential.
