The opportunity

BA (Hons) Interior and Spatial Design is part of the Material and Spatial Practices Programme at CCW. It is one of the longest running and most well-established interior design courses in the UK. The course is set in a collaborative and multidisciplinary field, one that works across a range of disciplines including architecture, art, furniture, interiors and spatial practices. The course provides an opportunity for students to develop their own approach to the subject, underpinned by theory and research, to investigate and test diverse spatial possibilities and improve the quality of designed environments.   

About you

Requirements of the Role: 


  • Undergraduate degree in Design or associated subject. 
  • Higher degree (e.g. MA) in Design or associated subject. (desirable) 
  • PhD or Higher level research degree (desirable) 
  • Teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent). (desirable) 
  • Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (desirable) 
  • Experience of teaching & assessment in a higher education environment (permanent, fractional, or hourly paid contract)
  • Applies an inquiring, innovative and reflexive approach to teaching 
  • Considers and promotes equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching and assessment 
  • Shows commitment to understanding the range of students’ experiences within a course
  • Collaborates and works effectively within team and across different professional groups  
  • Works effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people 
  • Fosters inclusive and constructive team work and problem-solving 
  • Evidence of research, knowledge exchange and/ or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of Product and Furniture Design activity and is relevant to the goals of the Programme, College and University 
  • Evidence of using contacts within subject peer group to develop partnerships or collaboration 
  • Plans, prioritises and manages resources effectively to achieve objectives
