The opportunity

A rare and exciting opportunity to join one of the world’s leading fashion colleges.  As Media Relations Manager you will develop first-rate press and media relations to enhance and build the reputation of London College of Fashion.  Working within Internal and External Relations, you will join a supportive and proactive team of PR, communication, media, digital, events and content specialists.  We are positive, enthusiastic and professional, always putting the student experience first, and showcasing the best LCF has to offer.

As Media Relations manager you will help surface the pioneering work of a college which has nurtured exceptional fashion talent for well over a century.  You will work on exciting campaigns and no day will be the same.  From catwalks to brand partnerships, to projects which focus on the climate crisis and refugees, the work of London College of Fashion challenges us to think differently about fashion and how it can shape lives.  Overseeing the fast paced press and external relations team you will work collaboratively to plan coherent and impactful press and media campaigns.  Working with a wide range of stakeholders from journalists to fashion brands, you will help build relationships and create opportunities which strengthen and amplify London College of Fashion’s world leading reputation.

About you

With excellent relationship building skills and contacts in sectors such as fashion, arts, culture and education you will be proactive, organised, and enjoy getting out to meet different people. You’ll be able to juggle multiple content deadlines and research different methods and outlets to engage the right audiences.  You will have an excellent sense of what makes a story newsworthy and have managerial experience within a busy Press & PR/Media Relations team (in-house or agency).

You’ll use your strategic overview and excellent writing skills, to create coherent and integrated publicity campaigns, your proactive approach to engage journalists and external audiences with stories, events and showcases, your storytelling abilities to build content narratives, and your evaluation skills to report back to colleagues and measure success.  You will be a supportive manager, setting direction and targets to develop staff and get the best out of your team.

In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, attractive pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available. If you have any queries about this role, you may contact the LCF Staffing Team at vacancies@fashion.arts.ac.uk phone: 07730 900321.
