The opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative person to support our new technical theatre courses.  Preferably you will have experience in animatronics/mechatronics, motion model making and articulation, special effects, and puppetry.

About you

You should be able to demonstrate application of light engineering skills in relation to actuated models using a wide range workshop equipment and processes. A good knowledge of electronics is an advantage - use of stepper motors, servos, controllers etc., able to use Arduino, Raspberry pi programming and application in a creative context for motion control is highly desirable.

Students are at the forefront of this role and some experience in teaching making skills at HE level is desirable. The role will be to provide specialist technical expertise, guidance and advice and to contribute to the delivery of teaching and learning activities within the 3D Workshops and Studios. Also assisting the configuration and development of the workspaces themselves as the courses grow. As well as familiarity with making, we are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills and a good understanding of health and safety.

If you have any queries about this role that are not covered in the documentation available, please contact Christine Crouch, Staffing Administrator jobs.ccw@arts.ac.uk.
