The opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled development and training professional to create, manage and deliver an exciting staff development offer that supports effective knowledge exchange practice, facilitates external engagement with our research, builds our institutional capacity, and enables practical evaluation and continuous improvement of research and knowledge exchange across UAL.

Knowledge exchange is a set of activities, processes and skills that enable close collaboration between universities and non-academic partners to deliver commercial, environmental, cultural and societal benefits, opportunities for students, and economic growth. UAL is a leading institution for research and knowledge exchange within its disciplines and this role will play an important part in raising engagement and inculcating good practice.

You will focus on developing and enhancing specialist staff development resources, systems and networks, enabling the delivery of high-quality staff development experiences to a large number of academic staff across a range of sites, including staff working remotely. The role will require you to think and engage strategically, whilst delivering a programme of practical engagement and development activities in support of UAL’s institutional strategy and priorities.

Currently role will require remote working, this requirement may change in the future.

About you

This role is a great opportunity for someone with experience of designing integrated programmes of staff training, events and communications, which result in enhanced knowledge and practices, effective peer-to-peer learning, new communities of practice, and a culture of evaluation and continuous improvement.

To be considered for this role you will need to evidence a strong working knowledge of contemporary approaches to development and training, and experience of working across large organisations (ideally in a higher education context), working across different teams and cultures to identify and address staff development needs through both digital and face-to-face delivery. You will ideally have a working knowledge of the staff development requirements for individuals (academic and/or non-academic) working in a research, innovation and/or knowledge exchange context, and have demonstrated the ability to create staff development and career frameworks.

If you can demonstrate a proven ability to successfully engage staff in identifying their development needs, and in working with colleagues or suppliers to develop interventions that are tailored to meet them, we would like to hear from you.

In return, UAL offers generous leave, an attractive pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.

Closing Date - 21st November 2021

Provisional interview Date - 3rd December 2021

Please note that this role may close earlier than the stated closing date if a sufficient number of applications are received. If you wish to apply for this position, you are advised to submit your application as soon as possible.
