BA (Hons.) Graphic Media Design is central to the undergraduate design offering at London College of Communication. With a legacy of innovative, experimental and globally renowned practice and research in graphic and media design we now seek to recruit a Course Leader to lead this pioneering, world-leading course into the next stage of its development.

The successful candidate will oversee the implementation and delivery of an expanded and ambitious curriculum with an increased emphasis on emerging technologies and platforms. They will lead on teaching and learning activities, develop and enhance the research, teaching and knowledge exchange profile of the staff and students, lead on projects and platforms related to the course and act as global ambassador for the subject, course, school and college.

They will also be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the course in close relationship with the GMD team and programme director. This includes developing and implementing strategies for international, research and knowledge exchange activities, monitoring and responding to performance data and representing the course and subject in the context of the operations of the school and college.

Through these activities they will lead on ensuring the continued innovation and future-facing development of the course as an industry-leading site of excellence.

About you

We are looking for a candidate with significant industry or research experience and practice in graphic and media design subjects. With an increased emphasis on emerging technologies in the curriculum, practical and theoretical literacy in experimental and future-facing practices such as generative design, coding, AR, VR and other digital platforms is essential. The candidate will also be able to adapt to and work with applied and experimental ideas across design including strategic design, service design, interdisciplinary practices and design research methods.

The successful candidate will have a track record of world-leading innovation in practice, research and teaching which they will be expected to continue developing in line with course and school objectives. They will have a strong global network of peers and evidence of supporting communities of practice in graphic and media design and good standing in industry and academic communities.

The successful candidate will have advanced experience of strategic management and organisation and have demonstrable skills in managing budgets, staffing and technical resourcing and managing performance and developing expertise in diverse teams. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate strong teaching and mentoring skills or experience. The successful candidate will have relevant undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications as well as extensive experience in graphic and media design.
