The opportunity

The degrees we offer across the Performance Programme at Central Saint Martins College encourage practitioners, activists and creative thinkers in expanding and diverging fields. The role of Course Leader, BA Performance: design and practice, offers opportunities for the appointed candidate to develop, redefine and grow the subject and to fully explore the potential of this long-established course within the context of a specialist Art and Design institution and a diverse Performance and Drama programme. The postholder will take leadership responsibility for developing the profile and reputation of the course. They will teach across all units, manage the community of staff contributing to the delivery of the course, and fully participate in the creative, intellectual and organisational life of the Programme and College.

About you

We seek applications from experienced professionals, research active academics and high calibre educationalists. This is a course management role and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong and well tested organisational skills within the context of Higher Education or similar. They must have a deep understanding of performance making and the makers of performance to lead the development of a next generation of artists. They must be passionate about the possibilities for creative collaboration. They will be able to evidence leadership and engagement in team building and co-operative practices. We seek someone with experience in relationship building, outside of their institution, who can demonstrate success in the delivery of project partnerships. It is essential that candidates are able demonstrate their commitment to equal opportunities and inclusive pedagogic practices.

You will be able to juggle multiple identities and tasks, have a person-centred outlook, apply your creativity to solving challenging problems, be compassionate, and have an open mind. Because our students will always surprise you.

In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, an attractive pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.

What we offer

We are UAL

Central Saint Martins is a world-leading centre for arts and design education. Its reputation stems from the creative energy of its staff and students and the stellar achievements of its graduates nationally and internationally. The nine programmes at CSM explore the boundaries of their discipline.  Students and staff are continually alert to new ideas, and are curious and restless in developing beyond the expected norms of their subject, so emerging work is at the forefront of its area. CSM sits at the heart of London’s creative scene, and of one of Europe’s most dynamic new culture and innovation quarters at King’s Cross, making the college increasingly important to London’s cultural life, and indicative of our general desire to open up CSM to as broad an audience as possible.
