The opportunity

Every position within the university plays an important part shaping future creative professionals.  The quality of our students’ academic learning experiences is central to this work. UAL have launched a new Academic Enhancement Model with a lead post in each of the four colleges to support the implementation of new academic framework. This is an opportunity for a candidate who would embrace the opportunity to develop and progress the academic enhancement model as it moves in to its second year of delivery.

LCC:

The London College of Communication (LCC) is a world leader in media and design courses, preparing students for careers in the Creative industries. From photography, film and animation, to sound arts and graphic, interactive and special design, we offer courses in a huge range of areas.

About you

Reporting to the UAL Dean of Learning and Teaching Enhancement, the post holder will work with colleagues at LCC and the Teaching and Learning Exchange leading on the implementation of UAL’s new Academic Enhancement Model (AEM) across LCC.

AEM is an enhancement framework that interrogates and responds to data in key areas of priority. Current AEM metrics include NSS, attainment differentials, continuation and the University Student Survey. AEM leads work with course teams in a supportive way to identify interventions that improve student experience and attainment.

As part of a team of four College-based academic specialists, you will work collectively and individually with College Deans and Associate Deans, the Teaching and Learning Exchange (https://www.arts.ac.uk/about-ual/teaching-and-learning-exchange), Academic Registry.

The post holder will have a portfolio of undergraduate course teams to work with (approximately half of the courses in LCC).

As well as leading the Academic Enhancement Model for courses in your college, you will also support work undertaken by the Exchange, providing an important link to and across the College. As an academic leader you will have a small teaching role with the potential to explore possibilities of teaching in the Exchange and/or LCC.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent academic who has experience of working on academic enhancement projects with a focus on improving the experience and attainment of students.
