The opportunity

We currently, have 1 term time only vacant posts working the following hours for up to 31 weeks a year.

Chelsea College of Arts  

1 x library assistant (18.5 hours per week)

Thursday – 11.00 – 17.00

Friday – 11.45 – 19.45

Saturday – 09.45 – 16.15                

You will assist in the delivery of high quality customer-focused library and open access IT services, participating in front-line services and administrative duties, keeping the space in good order through regular tidying, shelving and filing, in accordance with best health and safety practice and security guidelines.  You will also provide support for self-issue systems and IT.

You will assist users with directional and initial information enquiries, including the use of Library materials, as well as supporting students with general purpose software.  You will assist with the production of promotional and instructional guides to encourage students’ independent learning.


As part of the requirement of the role you may occasionally be required to work at any of the other UAL college libraries: Central St Martins, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon.





 

About you

You will have relevant experience in a library, open access IT or customer service environment and will be able to work independently, have basic numeracy skills or experience of financial procedures and have experience using Microsoft Office, internet and online resources.

You wil be able to ensure that accurate information is passed onto the most appropriate people in a timely fashion and have experience of answering standard questions/queries from customers.  You will have experience of working as a member of a team, providing support, assistance and cover where needed.
