The opportunity

We are seeking multiple practice-based lecturers in Animation, teaching into the BA Hons Animation course potentially across all 3 years. The role involves working as part of the team preparing and delivering structured learning experiences including classes, tutorials, workshops and studio critiques. You will also be assessing work, providing student support and completing administration tasks for practice-based units appropriate to your role. In year 1 you will typically be teaching animation skills and supporting students in developing an understanding of the principles of animation and applying those skills to the specialist fields of 2D, 3D digital, stop motion animation, game arts and/ or VFX. Years 2 & 3 focus on preparation for professional working and developing a specialist skill-set through practical creative project work.

You will work closely with other academic staff, including year leaders and course leader contributing to course development and quality processes through engagement in course planning meetings and will maintain effective communication with your line manager, other colleagues and students.

About you

You will be highly creative and skilled in the subject area of animation and you will be a specialist in your professional field. You will take a dynamic and innovative approach to supporting excellent teaching, pedagogy and inclusivity. You will be an excellent communicator, be highly motivated and organised and you will have experience teaching animation, ideally in Higher Education. You will have a creative, critical, historical and theoretical knowledge of animation and moving image practice and ideally you will have an understanding of animation in the wider context of visual communications such as AR, VR, interactivity, game arts and VFX.

It is essential that you have skills either in 2D Animation or Stop Motion and that you have a thorough knowledge of at least one of these softwares: Toon Boom; TV Paint; Adobe After Effects; Adobe Animate; Cinema 4D.

PG Cert teaching qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
