The opportunity
The University Archives and Special Collections Centre is seeking a part-time (21 hours a week) Assistant Archivist to support the development, delivery and exploitation of high quality and user-focused archive services at the University of the Arts London (UAL).
You will participate in the day-to-day organisation and delivery of services within the University’s Archives and Special Collections Centre, supporting researchers and delivering student inductions and workshops, working with archives and collections across the different sites.
You will also support collections management activities, including cataloguing of physical and digital material and supporting internal and external exhibition loans, as well as supporting outreach activities such as skills-sharing sessions and social media communications.
About you
You will have either a postgraduate qualification in Archives and Records Management, or equivalent experience of work in an archive and demonstrable knowledge and experience of working to international standards in cataloguing and collections care.
You will be a confident communicator, both orally and in writing and have experience of delivering excellent customer service and of using archives and collections to inspire and educate. You will have excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
