The opportunity

You will be responsible for contributing to the development, delivery, stock organisation and maintenance of customer-focused Library Services at UAL, liaising with relevant colleagues as necessary. You will support learning, teaching and research activities, participating in information dissemination and provision of enquiry services, including roaming support and involvement in virtual enquiry services as needed. Key components of the role include assisting with academic support and collection development for designated programmes of study and participating in the promotion of resources, collections and services through effective academic liaison and information dissemination. You will assist with the provision of enquiry services and contribute to the development of learning materials which encourage the use of resources and services.

The role involves working one evening each week until 7.45pm, and may also involve working occasionally until 7.45pm on Friday evenings during BA term times (30 weeks per year). Candidates must be able to commit to this to be considered.

About you

With either a degree in any subject plus a postgraduate qualification or a degree in Library and Information Studies or equivalent and relevant experience in a library or customer service environment you will create realistic plans to achieve the agreed deadlines and objectives of the role. With experience of providing guidance to support the diverse needs of library users you will be able to communicate accurate and relevant information regarding services and systems in a manner that demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and an understanding of the academic context of the University.
