The opportunity

Centre for Circular Design (CCD) was founded at Chelsea in 2017, after the team completed many years of outstanding research in sustainable textile design. This is a unique role placing you at the very heart of the Centre – supporting the team in the production, documentation and publication of high-level research outcomes by the Professors, Readers, Post Doc Researchers, Research Assistants and PhD Researchers. You will support the Project Manager in the administering of existing project funding and the development of new funding bids; as well as managing the Centre’s annual budget. You will also play a key role in the delivery of high-level events, like conferences, keynote lectures, and symposia and workshops. You will be the first port of call for the Chelsea College of Arts students seeking support with their studies; and you will be fielding regular enquiries from potential partners, industry clients and research students.

About you

We are looking for a team player with a good understanding of textiles and materials, who is able to work independently without direct supervision, with an ability to clarify, plan and prioritise you’re their own work.

You need to enjoy working with others to achieve personal and Centre objectives; and have experience of organising and managing events, workshops and other activities. This job will suit you if you are a good communicator, with an ability to share oral and written information clearly and concisely, with an ability to understand and explain specialist terms commonly used in fashion and sustainability. The post would suit you if you have experience of dealing with and communicating to a range of audiences, and you are confident at using your initiative or creativity to resolve problems in a timely way. You should have experience in project support including data collection, finance processing, and disseminating information; as well as experience with budget monitoring, including processing invoices and expenses claims. You will need strong experience using MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and preferably Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, an attractive pension scheme and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.

CVs submitted without a formal application form will not be accepted for consideration. If you have any queries about this role that are not covered in the documentation, please contact Christine Crouch, Staffing Administrator, email jobs.ccw@arts.ac.uk or telephone 020 7514 9645.
