The opportunity

University of the Arts London (UAL) is inviting experienced art and design teachers to shape the future of creative minds. If you are passionate about fostering creativity and innovation this is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of art and design education, enriching the lives of a children and young people. 

Future Creatives is a growing programme within UAL Short Courses. Our aim is to deliver engaging, high-quality art and design courses for children and young people (7–11 primary and 11-17 secondary). Future Creative classes predominantly run in the summer across multiple locations in and out of London, taking place during school holidays. We require experienced teachers to contribute to our vibrant educational community. This year we will be recruiting for roles in Reading. 

Dates for this summer’s Art and Design Workshops are: 

Future Creatives Art and Design Workshop for 7 to 11 Year olds  

  • 22nd – 25th July 09:30 – 12:00  
  • 19th – 22nd August 09:30 – 12:00 

Future Creatives Art and Design Workshop for 11 to 17 Year Olds  

  • 22nd – 25th July 13:30 – 16:30 
  • 19th – 22nd August 13:30 – 16:30 

About you

You will be able to plan and deliver an inclusive block of sessions that will develop and engage learners. You will enjoy incorporating your own specialism and style and have a good understanding of the art and design curriculum (key stages 2, 3 and 4).  A teaching qualification, along with previous experience of teaching students of this age is essential. You will be confident working independently to support students with different learning needs and be skilled at creating a dynamic and inclusive environment in which to learn. You will have excellent organisational skills, including management of materials and be prepared to take safeguarding training.

UAL Short Courses (UALSC) is part of the University’s department of Academic Enterprise which leads the University of the Arts London’s commercial educational operations. There are 100 staff and 1,500 hourly paid staff in Academic Enterprise, which is integral to the University’s long-term development. Its mission is to increase the amount of income generated by the University from non-core teaching and research activities. It includes several successful existing business operations including UAL Short Courses Ltd, AE International (English Language preparation and Study Abroad) as well as UALAT.

Stages involved in the process: Application, Shortlisting, Interview Q&A, Presentation, Onboarding.

As part of your application, you will need to write a supporting statement in no more than 1,500 words that covers the competencies that can be found in the person specification.Shortlisted candidates will be asked to prepare a Scheme of Work (SOW) for an existing course.   
  
We recommend applying early, as the application deadline may be moved forward if a sufficient number of applications are received. The deadline for applications is the 6th of May. Interviews are scheduled to take place online tentatively on 20th May.
