The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with innovative approaches to design management practice with focus on creative practice. The position invites applicants who are keen on the future facing development of the course, in particular fostering diverse design visual practices in the context of design management including a holistic and creative approach to design leadership and culture.

As a lecturer you will be responsible for delivery of the design management units with particular focus on creative across the course. You will bring research and/or industry expertise and network of contacts alongside teaching experience at undergraduate level. You will manage and participate in the delivery of student-centered teaching as well as make a significant contribution to pedagogic development of the course, assessment, quality management and recruitment.

The appointed candidate will work under the direction of the Course Leader to deliver the course as well as contributing to School, College and University.

About you

We are looking for an individual with a qualification at undergraduate and postgraduate level relevant to the subject area of design management with particular focus on creative practices. You should have knowledge of methods for visual research and analysis, idea and concept generation/prototyping, techniques to document/analyse project processes and final outcomes and skills in drawing, photography and digital image creation, information design, typography, design and layout, website design, print production and online publishing. High level of digital proficiency and knowledge of experimental design practices/processes and familiarity with relevant software is required. Experience of teaching, supporting and developing creative practices across undergraduate and postgraduate design management courses and the integration of technical processes into live/simulated projects is desirable. You would have had experience in working with diverse cultural challenges and understand the influence socio-economic and political forces have on design management within organisations.

As an academic, previous teaching experience at undergraduate level is essential in addition to experience of research and/or professional practice in design management and creative practice or equivalent.

The successful candidate should possess effective interpersonal skills and be an innovative student-centred teacher. They will possess strong communication and organisational skills, whilst being able to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop the subject area and share expertise.
