The opportunity

This role offers the opportunity for an experienced Fire Safety Adviser to apply their knowledge and skills, and develop their career further, across a range multiple complex, stimulating and fascinating environments.

University of the Arts London has a wide range of teaching, research and accommodation environments, comprising of multi storey buildings, creative studios, workshops and theatres. Your knowledge and experienced is required to drive fire safety improvement and management. UAL also has an ambitious building programme requiring fire safety input to the design of our new college buildings, ensuring they provide safe working environments for our staff and students from day one of occupancy.

Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining the fire risk register and fire safety management system, providing regular reports on fire safety performance and undertaking assurance activities across the estate to assess compliance. You will support the College Health & Safety Advisers to close out actions from fire risk assessments, as well as leading on fire risk assessments, which are undertaken collaboratively with key stakeholders, such as our Facilities and Technical Managers.

Please note the role is nominally based in High Holborn, but will work across multiple sites across London.


 

About you


You will be a proven and suitably qualified fire safety professional with expertise in practicing fire safety, enforcement, risk assessment, investigation, and delivering and developing fire safety training. You will also be able to demonstrate, a thorough understanding of fire safety legislation, fire safety management, and the principles of fire engineering. In addition to your technical knowledge and expertise you will also require the ability to develop constructive working relationships and influence, negotiate and communicate in a multi-layered organisation, both verbally and in writing. Experience of working in similar complex environments will be advantageous.
