The opportunity

Based at London College of Fashion’s sites in Hackney, Shoreditch and Shepherds Bush, line-managing a team of Specialist Teaching and Learning Technicians, you will coordinate the operation and development of Fashion Design and Textile Technology facilities and a range of technical skills workshops and learning resources.  

Reporting to the Technical Manager for Garment and Textiles and liaising with both technical and academic course teams and Industry partners you will coordinate the delivery of contemporary and innovative technical curriculum in Garment and Textile Technology that includes garment construction, pattern development, Cad/Cam, Digital Print, Digital Image and Technology & Innovation contributing to the College strategic vision for Technology Enhanced Learning. 

You will need to be conversant with the various processes involved in PRA, stock and H&S management and have a high level of digital and technical skill relevant to the courses currently on offer within the School of Design and Technology. 

You will contribute your expert knowledge and experience where needed within UAL and, with an extensive Estates project to relocate the College campus within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park’s Cultural and Education Quarter, you will provide specialist experience to inform this landmark project. 

About you

You will have experience coordinating and delivering technical services at scale. You will be familiar with industry trends and new innovations within the Fashion industry with practical experience in the specialist Garment and Textile Technology subject areas listed above. 

Teaching experience or a familiarity with effective and innovative pedagogical approaches are essential. 

You will have the ability to lead a team effectively, including setting clear objectives to manage performance, providing clear feedback on performance and planning development journeys. You will contribute to the budget planning for staffing and resources for the Garment & Textiles area. 

Your normal working hours will include late night/weekend working. You may occasionally be required to be flexible with your work time arrangements in order to support ad-hoc events that occur out of the normal working hours.
