The opportunity
BA (Hons) Film Practice is a well-established and highly successful course and is in the process of reapproval (revalidation) for 21/22 delivery. This course resides within the Screen School alongside a portfolio of courses which promote an inspiring environment for storytelling and collaboration. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is committed to developing a creative curriculum for graduates looking to enter the film industry. As Course Leader you will be responsible for furthering the academic direction and the film practice curriculum. The position invites applicants who are keen to promote inclusion and cultural diversity, enable creative storytelling and collaborative production teams.
As the Course Leader you will have responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the curriculum, including the management of learning, teaching and assessment of students, the maintenance and enhancement of standards and resource allocation. You will lead and manage the course team and will be responsible to the Programme Director for the academic leadership and management of this course. You will bring industry experience and teaching experience at undergraduate level. As a practitioner you will participate in the delivery of teaching of your practice and research opportunities. You will work alongside the other Course Leaders to contribute to School, College and University initiatives.
About you
You will bring skills and knowledge from a proven industry / professional track record in filmmaking. All filmmaking roles are considered as appropriate for this post. Experience with both fiction and documentary is preferable together with teaching experience and academic authority in an HE environment.
You have demonstrated the ability to motivate a diverse student population to think creatively, critically and enable them to deliver their ideas through development, into production and delivery of the films. This is complemented by excellent administrative and organisational skills relevant to the requirements of student experience, course delivery and development within an academic context. You possess good interpersonal skills with ability to lead, manage and work alongside full and part time staff as an excellent team player.
