The opportunity

We regularly recruit Library Assistants for our Evening teams. 
 
Currently, we have one vacant post working term-time only for up to 33 weeks per year, equating to 0.44 FTE.  

Central Saint Martins  1 X Evening Library Assistant:   

Monday – Friday: 18.00pm – 22.15pm (4.25 hours per day) 

In the 2021/2022 academic year Libraries will be open 31 weeks of the year, and remaining hours are reserve hours, used for staff training and development or to accommodate weekday opening, and are worked over the year, usually in the day time, by agreement with your line manager. 

As part of the Evening team, you will assist with the effective delivery of library services on your designated site, although you might occasionally be required to work at any of the other UAL college libraries. 
 
You will participate in answering enquiries on-line via our live chat service ASK. 

  

You will also participate in on-site front-line services and administrative duties including support for self-issue systems, IT and printing.  You will assist users with general directional and initial information enquiries, including the use of the library catalogue, electronic information resources. 

You may also be required to take part in shelving activities and demonstrate an understanding of manual handling guidelines which will be required when lifting heavy items.  

Other evening roles may arise following these interviews at other UAL College libraries, which shortlisted candidates may be considered for within 3 months of interview for the current role on offer. 

About you

You should have relevant library or customer service experience, and formal training or education to post-16 level. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and be IT literate. Working in a small team, you will provide positive and responsive customer service.
