The opportunity

not just a shop sells unique home, fashion, giftware and artwork by UAL students and alumni both in-store and online. Outside of retail hours it’s also a learning space; with a programme of enterprise events designed to help UAL students and alumni to launch and develop their creative businesses.

The not just a shop E-commerce Coordinator is a new role, designed to support all areas relating to e-commerce with the aim to increase sales and engagement.
The role will be responsible for: keeping the website is well-presented and up-to-date; processing and fulfilling orders; delivering on the retail strategy so that KPIs are met; ensuring customers receive a high-standard of service; and working in-store as a sales assistant during opening hours.

not just a shop is led by Careers and Employability, the University's dedicated careers and enterprise service that supports students and graduates to make a living doing what they love.

About you

You must have:

  • Knowledge of the art, design and wider cultural sector.
  • Understanding of retail systems, processes and operations.
  • Understanding of SEO and ability to write SEO rich copy.
  • Thorough knowledge of digital marketing channels and resources.
  • Working knowledge of Wordpress and WooCommerce (desirable).
  • Experience of working in the retail sector (preferably within a creative/cultural environment).
  • Experience of developing and/or maintaining an E-Commerce platform, relevant website or blog.
  • Excellent standard of written and verbal English, and strong visual communication skills.
  • Experience of delivering projects and managing budgets effectively.

You must be able to:

  • Plan, prioritise and organise work to achieve objectives on time.
  • Work collaboratively in a team and where appropriate across or with different professional groups.
  • Edit and resize imagery using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Provide a positive and responsive customer service.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students and graduates, and understands their needs to provide a beneficial experience and service.
  • Use initiative or creativity to resolve day-to-day operations and customer problems
  • Use creativity to come up with ideas and put them into practice.
  • Liaise with a range of stakeholders (including students, commercial partners, customers and UAL staff).
