The opportunity

We regularly recruit Library Assistants for our evening teams with some weekday contact hours required as part of the role.

Currently, we have two vacant posts working term-time only for up to 33 weeks per year.
Any remaining hours are contact hours which are worked over the year by agreement with you, to accommodate weekday opening, plus staff training and development:

Central Saint Martins

1 X Evening Library Assistant:               Monday – Friday: 18.00 – 22.15 (4.25 hours per day)

London College of Fashion

1 X Evening Library Assistant                Monday – Friday: 18.00 – 22.15 (4.25 hours per day)

As part of the requirement of the role you may occasionally be required to work at any of the other UAL college libraries: Central St Martins, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon.

As part of the evening team, you will assist with the effective delivery of library services on your designated site. You will be instrumental in contributing to the development and delivery of high quality customer-focused services at the University by providing assistance to all students and ensuring its effective and timely delivery.

You will participate in front-line services and administrative duties including support for self-issue systems, IT and printing.  You will assist users with directional and initial information enquiries; including the use of the library catalogue, electronic information resources and participate in roaming support. You will also be required to participate in shelving activities and demonstrate an understanding of manual handling guidelines which will be required when lifting heavy items.
