Diagnostic and Progression Lecturer in Three-Dimensional Design and Architecture

The opportunity

The role of Diagnostic and Progression Lecturer in Three-Dimensional Design and Architecture: Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is part of the Access and Progression to Higher Education Programme. This role is one of four across the programme.

Each curriculum area of the Foundation course has its own specialist delivery and identity within the course and this role carries a responsibility for supporting the Curriculum Leader Diagnostic Studies to deliver the diagnostic phase of the course. There is also an expectation that the person in this role would support and lead on aspects of Progression from Foundation within the university.

Purpose of the role:

• To support the Curriculum Leader Diagnostic Studies to develop and deliver the diagnostic phase of the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design course.
• To support students in progressing into higher education and to develop relationships across UAL with this intention.
• To bring specialist subject knowledge of Three-Dimensional Design and Architecture to the process of selecting, diagnosing and progressing students.
• To undertake teaching as appropriate to your areas of expertise and the subject areas of the Course, Programme or College.
• To stay abreast of research and other developments in Three-Dimensional Design and Architecture, and to ensure that these developments are reflected in the curriculum in consultation with colleagues and within the structures and mechanisms established by the University and the College.

About you

You will be an experienced academic and professional practitioner in the field of relevant Three-Dimensional Design and Architecture practice. You will promote the pursuit of the highest academic standards and of reflection, enquiry and creative risk taking to ensure that students are well equipped intellectually, creatively and technically, not only to meet the challenges of contemporary professional practice, but to anticipate and initiate change. You will have extensive experience of teaching at FE (Level 3/4) Level in an HEI or Further Education institution. A dynamic, enthusiastic and committed academic, you will demonstrate an ability to motivate students and work as part of a team to engage and build relationships with external organisations, institutions and individuals.
