The opportunity

Reporting to the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Manager, the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Officer is responsible for developing, managing and reviewing policies and processes that support the core business functions of the quality assurance team. They are responsible for implementing and maintaining effective quality assurance policies and processes to ensure that quality standards are consistently met.

The role sits alongside two other Quality Assurance and Enhancement Officers, who work supportively and collaboratively to proactively monitor systems and processes to ensure that quality concerns are promptly identified and reported to the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Manager.

The Quality Assurance and Enhancement Officers provide expert guidance and support to all awarding body teams and its external stakeholders, ensure that policies and procedures are consistently applied, and support activities to address any areas for improvement. They support the delivery of the annual self-evaluation exercise, supporting the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Manager in establishing the level of compliance with the qualification regulators’ Conditions of Recognition and preparing the Annual Statements of Compliance.

About you

A naturally meticulous investigator, you will continually evaluate current systems and processes with a view to identifying areas of concern and determining those which require improvement to meet the needs of the regulators.

You will employ your expert quality and compliance knowledge to evaluate business functions, negotiating solutions with staff and being confident in your communications about setting and maintaining standards.

You will have experience of working in a quality function of an organisation, ideally in an Awarding Body. You will have experience of producing clear, concise and accurate reports and ideally have an understanding of the requirements of educational regulatory bodies such as Ofqual, CCEA, Qualification Wales.

You will be motivated, hardworking, highly organised and a skilled problem solver. Able to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail, you excel at analysing complex information, but are also collaborative, supportive and a strong team player.

Educated to degree or equivalent professional qualification, you will commit to your own development through effective use of processes such as UAL’s excellent appraisal scheme and staff development opportunities.
