The opportunity

Contributing to the development, delivery and exploitation of high quality and customer-focused library services at the University of the Arts London (UAL), by helping to provide a professional acquisitions, cataloguing, classification and metadata service on a University-wide basis to customer college libraries and Resources & Systems (R&S) colleagues. You'll contribute to developing effective policies for acquisitions and metadata, help ensure agreed procedures are implemented and service level agreements met. You'll support the setting of standards and measures, and assist in the provision of training for library assistants and college staff in a partial shelf-ready environment.

About you

With either a degree in any subject plus a postgraduate qualification or a degree in Library & Information Studies or equivalent, and relevant experience in a library or customer service environment, you'll have knowledge and experience of the use of cataloguing standards (including AACR2, RDA, Marc21, LC authorities, DDC) and an awareness of best practice in acquisitions and cataloguing practice in higher education. You'll contribute to the work of the team, providing support, assistance and cover where needed and will be able to create realistic plans to achieve deadlines and objectives, effectively prioritising your work.

In return, we offer a competitive employment package including a salary that reflects working in London, generous annual leave, an attractive pension scheme, and a commitment to your continuing personal and career development in an environment that encourages creativity, diversity and excellence.
