The opportunity

The post holder will report to the Lead Accountant in Estates and will provide a pro-active and efficient financial management service delivery to the Accommodation services department. This is a core finance business partnering role which requires effective communication and collaboration across various key departments at UAL. 

The post holder will be an integral member of the Accommodation Senior Management Team, offering financial  advice on the long-term accommodation portfolio; occupancy and allocations statistics; whilst also maintaining relationships with Finance colleagues at other Universities.

The post holder will ensure that budget managers and associated stakeholders have the appropriate financial information, whilst providing financial advice to aid operational decision-making.

About you

You should be fully qualified with a recognised Accounting Body (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent), has excellent IT knowledge including Advanced Excel Skills, Word and Outlook and has knowledge of Finance Information Systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Agresso, Kinetics, Student System Replacement software - SITS).

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a senior finance position either in the public or private sectors, experience in business partnering, of building successful internal working relationships with budget managers and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will have an understanding and proven experience of providing professional advice and delivering value added financial reporting that supports decision making and assists senior management with strategic decision making.

The successful candidate will have experience of financial planning and budget setting, of developing costing models to inform price settings and working with stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes. The successful candidate will have an understanding of contractual agreements with third party providers and who has experience of completing month end and year end procedures. The successful candidate will have experience of leading regular forums with the senior management team and has the ability to challenge budget holders.
