The opportunity

We are looking to recruit an early career academic in the field of Public Relations. You will join our team of academics and industry practitioners working on BA (Hons) Public Relations and in relevant areas across the Communications and Media programme. Other courses in the programme include undergraduate and postgraduate courses in: Advertising; Contemporary Media Cultures; Media Communications; and Media, Communications and Critical Practice. The role requires a specific focus on at least one of the following: public relations, marketing, branding, digital marketing, integrated marketing communication, industry experience, professional practice, reputation management, and engagement with diversity and inclusion in media and public relations.

You will proactively contribute to pedagogic and curriculum development that stimulate thought and practice that challenge the canon of public relations with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity, and have an ability to work as part of a team.

You will have teaching experience in Higher Education and have an emerging track record of delivering high quality student experience, including through curriculum delivery, development and assessment. As lecturer you will take responsibility for teaching and learning on relevant units including their management and coordination, and supervising final major projects and dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will have experience of providing academic and pastoral support to students, of monitoring student progress and maintaining appropriate records. You will have or be willing to study for a relevant teaching qualification.

About you

You will bring an advanced knowledge of your subject area and be able to apply this to broader processes of change and future directions, through innovative pedagogy, knowledge exchange and/or research. A PhD (or near to completion) or equivalent relevant industry experience is essential. You will have a strong commitment to the advancement of your field and be able to identify potential sources of funding and develop original projects. You will make a significant contribution to teaching and research or knowledge exchange activities in the programme.
