The opportunity

Our halls are more than just a place to stay; they are a place to call home. We want our students to have the best living experience possible and pride ourselves in providing a first class customer orientated service in the provision of safe, secure and affordable accommodation.

London is a city that never stops and neither do our Halls of Residence! Due to an increase in resident needs outside of the traditional ‘9-5’, we are expanding our service to reflect a true 24/7 operation and we are expanding our Residence Managers team to help manage the service round the clock.

We have two part time roles at 0.85 FTE each, working at 30 hours a week.

Working between 20:00 – 07:00 Monday to Friday or Weekends on a rotational basis, you will be the first point of contact for all urgent priority issues including high level pastoral/tenancy management and health & safety matters throughout the accommodation portfolio, ensuring all relevant incidents are managed. You will be expected to travel to sites across London to provide onsite real time support to staff members & students alike.

You will also provide support and line management to Out of Hours staff members including Residence Assistants, Resident Wardens, Student Welfare Mentors, Social Programme Reps and seasonal support. Also, as a member of the wider Resident Manager team, you will provide assistance to the daytime operation by completing tasks & activities and coordinate and deliver the daily operational handover.

About you

You will possess experience of day to day management in a similar customer focused environment (residential, hospitality, hotels etc.) and on a comparable scale. An understanding of landlord & tenant legislation and facilities management is advantageous.

You will have extensive experience of providing credible customer service, have the ability to keep calm when working under pressure and can maintain a solution based approach to your work and outputs at all times. You will take full ownership in your work, utilise all relevant systems & tools to your advantage and continually seek ways to improve your individual performance.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with a confident ‘can do’ attitude are absolutely essential for the role. An ability to complete project management work and produce high quality written reports is also desirable

As you will be required to travel between sites to perform your duties during out of hours with limited public transport, you must have a valid UK driver’s license for this role. Additionally you will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.

In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, an attractive pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.
