The opportunity

Our halls are more than just a place to stay; they are a place to call home. We want our students to have the best living experience possible and pride ourselves in providing a first class customer orientated service in the provision of safe, secure and affordable accommodation.

London is a city that never stops and neither do our Halls of Residence! Due to an increase in resident needs outside of the traditional ‘9-5’, we are expanding our service to reflect a true 24/7 operation and we are expanding our team to help manage the service round the clock with Senior Residence Assistants firmly at the heart of the team.

As a Senior Residence Assistant you will deliver a range of high level customer focused and building services in and around the resident’s flats & rooms and you will be the first point of contact for many different enquires and ensure day to day supervision of the Residence Assistant Team.

You will be expected to carry out several duties including leading on the daily premises inspections & patrols, taking the lead in a number of maintenance tasks and responsibilities, ensuring day to day tasks are completed to a high standard, regular site cleaning and dealing with mail & reception cover where necessary. You will also provide a first-line access control/security presence and patrols to ensure a safe and secure environment for our residents, visitors and contractors.

Based at our Camberwell Campus & Brooke Hall in South East London, or at Cordwainers Court in East London, Senior Resident Assistants will be expected to work on a rotational weekly shift pattern with a choice of shifts. These range between the hours of 08:00 – 20:00, providing cover over 365 days a year including public holiday periods and weekends. You may from time to time be expected to travel to other sites across London to provide support and assistance to other staff members & residents alike.

A City & Guilds qualification in relation to any field within the area of maintenance of domestic and building environments is advantageous but not essential.

You will be required to demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and be used to working within procedures & measures to control risks to yourselves and others. An understanding of specific health and safety procedures relating to building management such as COSHH & Fire evacuation practices is essential.
