The opportunity

The focus of this role is to assist in the delivery of high quality customer-focussed library and open access IT services at the University of the Arts London (UAL), which support the teaching, learning and research activities of its Colleges by participating in front-line services and administrative duties.

You'll assist users with directional and initial information enquiries, including the use of Library materials, as well as participating in roaming support. You'll also provide guidance on the use of electronic information resources, the internet and support general purpose software.

You will have relevant experience in a library, open access IT or customer service environment and will be able to work independently, have basic numeracy skills or experience of financial procedures and have experience using Microsoft office, Internet and electronic resources.

The role is full time and includes the requirement to work one day a week until 6.00pm, currently a Thursday, during term time and until 6.15 in the vacations, on a rota basis.

About you

You should have relevant library or customer service experience in a library and formal training or education to post-16 level. You will be able to work independently, have excellent communication skills both written and oral and be IT literate

You are able to ensure that accurate information is passed onto the most appropriate people in a timely fashion and have experience of answering standard questions/queries from customers. You should have experience of working as a member of a team, providing support, assistance and cover where needed.
