The opportunity

The Course Leader BA (Hons) Fashion Buying & Merchandising is responsible for teaching, course development, and on-going scholarship on the BA (Hons) Fashion Buying & Merchandising. This course is part of the Product and Innovation programme in the Fashion Business School at London College of Fashion. The post-holder will work collaboratively within a course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions.  

About you

Requirements of the role:

  • Relevant undergraduate qualification.
  • Teaching qualification relating to Higher Education is essential.
  • A post graduate qualification MA/ MSc / PhD relevant (desirable).
  • Relevant academic experience operating as a module leader/ unit leader and with experience of teaching at UG level to a wide and diverse cohort of students.
  • Experience of operating in a professional/ industry relevant environment.
  • Communicates effectively orally and in writing, adapting the message for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way.
  • Motivates and leads a team effectively, setting clear objectives to manage performance
  • Applies innovative approaches to course leadership, teaching, learning or professional practice to support excellent teaching, pedagogy and inclusivity.
  • Applies own research to develop learning and assessment practice.
  • Contributes to advancing professional practice/research or scholarly activity in own area of specialism.
  • Plans, prioritises and manages resources effectively to achieve long term objectives
  • Builds effective teams, networks or communities of practice and fosters constructive cross team collaboration.
  • Contributes to improving or adapting provision to enhance the student experience or customer service.
  • Suggests practical solutions to new or unique problems.

The post-holder will be expected to undertake:

  • The academic leadership and management of the course, including the maintenance and enhancement of standards and responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the curriculum
  • The day to day management of the course including all areas of learning, teaching and assessment of students as well as resources allocated
  • Observing and implementing the policies and procedures of the University and the College
