The opportunity

We seek an enterprising digital media practitioner with an interest in virtual reality to teach VR content creation on the MA Virtual Reality course. The role requires teaching and assessing of coursework. We are looking for someone with solid experience in the field of 3D and/or 360-degree content creation and with an interest in virtual reality. There will be an opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the development of curriculum. Applicants must be in a position to begin teaching from Monday 1st October 2018.

Your main responsibility will be to collaborate with the MA VR course leader on the preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of a part of the Creative VR Unit. You will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and support our students receive in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully. 

You will work closely with other academic staff, including the Programme Director.

About you

The ideal candidates will have worked or are currently working with 3D software in virtual reality or related industries (e.g. gaming, engineering, architecture, product prototyping, visual effects, animation). You will have a good understanding of the VR pipeline and be proficient in and willing to teach industry standard software, such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Adobe Creative Suite, 3DsMax, Maya, and Gravity Sketch. The role requires delivery of technical workshops, tutorials, seminar and lectures for one or more of the software above on the Creative VR Unit, and also marking and assessing of coursework. Experience of working with higher education students and enhancing the student experience as well as connections to the industry are desirable. Candidates will be expected to have a degree in a relevant field.

The MA Virtual Reality is a practice-led course which seeks to develop technical computing skills, animation, editing and interaction with VR content, and culminates in a collaborative project preparing students for integrated roles in the VR industry.
