The opportunity

The post of Business Manager: Children and Young People in UAL Short Courses is a highly commercial role. The role will not only develop and drive the success of this new product area in both UALSC and UALAB but will, in due course, deliver significant profits for the University through the establishment of a new short course business unit. Once established you will manage the financial, marketing, sales and administrative functions of the unit. The  business will  largely operate outside UAL’s existing buildings and outside the M25 and you should be prepared for significant UK travel. The role will involve working closely with the UAL Awarding Body and its team of specialist examiners and discipline specialists to devise and develop the new products. 

About you

We are looking for someone who has a track record of significant profit delivery and growth in a similar or related business area. You will have an understanding of the UK and international educational landscapes and the role and impact of educational regulators such as Ofqual in the UK at levels 1, 2 and 3. We are looking for an individual with ability to operate as an entrepreneur and generate business from project idea to delivery. You will have experience of working in a multi-site educational setting with under 18s in the public or private sector, You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to present compelling arguments to influence and negotiate at all levels inside and outside UAL. Candidates must have demonstrable success in leading and developing internal and networks, and should demonstrate the commercial acumen to balance risk and opportunity. Experience of managing and leading a team, and successfully encouraging contribution and involvement from staff at all levels is essential. An understanding of UK safeguarding regulations is essential and a valid UK driving licence is desirable
