The opportunity

Reporting to the Lead Accountant, Estates, this role is responsible for providing a professional, proactive financial management service to support the Associate Director of Catering, Retail and Accommodation, associated budget holders and the Associate Director of Finance. The post holder will provide detailed insight on the management of financial resources, revenue growth and business planning, utilising commercial acumen and analytics to understand the key drivers of the business.

The post holder will provide strategic information, budgets and reforecasts and monthly management accounts. The role will be key to challenging financial information, delivering efficiencies and savings, providing excellent business partnership and customer service to all managers and to lead on the improvement of financial reporting within both the accommodation and finance departments.

The post holder must have significant experience in working in a large and complex organisation. The post holder will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a proactive approach by providing regular commentary reports. This will involve having significant experience in developing, managing and providing practical and cost effective solutions.

About you

We are looking for Someone who is fully qualified with a recognised Accounting Body (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent), has excellent IT knowledge including Advanced Excel Skills, Word and Outlook and has knowledge of Finance Information Systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Agresso, Kinetics, Student System Replacement software - SITS)

Someone who has extensive experience in a senior finance position either in the public or private sectors, experience in business partnering, of building successful internal working relationships with budget managers and other stakeholders.

Someone who has an understanding and proven experience of providing professional advice and delivering value added financial reporting that supports decision making and assists senior management with strategic decision making.

Someone who has experience of financial planning and budget setting, of developing costing models to inform price settings and working with stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

Someone who has an understanding of contractual agreements with third party providers and who has experience of completing month end and year end procedures.

Someone who has experience of leading regular forums with the senior management team and has the ability to challenge budget holders.
