The opportunity

As a Specialist Technician you will provide specialist technical support, expertise and guidance to groups and individuals for taught programs. You be responsible for the day-to-day operation of resources linked to the delivery of Digital Projects (ensuring staff and students work in an environment that is both productive and safe), for the maintenance of systems, equipment and for the ordering and receiving of equipment and materials, ensuring the effective use of suppliers and contractors.


You will not only bring key skills with you, but will have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience across a wide range of technical workshops in an evolving area. This post is largely a flexible role across different systems and strategic digital projects, and you will work to a structured roster over the course of the year.

About you

You should have an undergraduate degree (postgraduate desirable) in a relevant subject (or a professional equivalent), and relevant experience in IT, digital systems and networks, gained through working in industry and/or education. You must be able to demonstrate IT expertise and pass on technical support and skills to a wide range of students and staff, have in-depth knowledge over a range of different content delivery mechanisms (web, mobile, Moodle, blogs, for example), demonstrable experience across a number of coding languages (for example HTML, Java, CSS, Jamf, or Python), experience of working in creative production managing high-bandwidth media storage & render (desirable), and an awareness and appreciation of the need for high levels of customer care.
