The opportunity

Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of student work across the MA Data Visualisation course. You will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and the support students receive in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully. You will also work with the Course Leader, students and colleagues across the college in promoting and developing the subject through conferences, public exhibitions and other contributions to research and knowledge exchange. You will develop partnerships and collaborations with industry and academic partners as well as bring your own research and/or practice to bear on the development of the subject and the course.

Further information should be viewed on the course pages before application (www.arts.ac.uk/lcc/courses/postgraduate/ma-data-visualisation/)

About you

You will have previous experience of teaching in Higher Education or comparable context, and in delivering a high quality student experience, as well as some knowledge of curriculum development and assessment. You should be comfortable working with a diverse cohort of up to 30 post-graduate students and committed to a teaching approach that integrates theory and practice and will engage students through a combination of innovative pedagogy, knowledge exchange and/or research. You will have or should be willing to attain, with UAL’s support, a relevant teaching qualification or recognition.

An MA or equivalent relevant industry experience in fields associated with data visualisation or data practices is essential. You will have a strong commitment to the advancement of your field, critical discourse in data and associated fields and theoretical and technical exploration of it. You will be proactive and actively contribute to the course and programme’s aims and vision.

You should be a specialist practitioner and/or researcher who is keen to use your academic and/or industry-based experience to support the development of student work on the MA Data Visualisation course. You should have a strong understanding of the contemporary context of data practices in an academic and/or professional setting, and be engaged in relevant networks and communities of practice within this and/or related fields

You should bring an understanding of tools, software and hardware relevant to data visualisation practice and an understanding of the role of tools and technical skills in a post-graduate academic context. You should also be invested in keeping your knowledge in this area current and up-to-date.
