The opportunity

You will lead public policy development and engagement across UAL, developing an effective public affairs strategy for the University in association with our colleges and institutes. In doing so, you will work closely with experts who are already actively engaged with public policy, map stakeholder relationships and build partnerships with political stakeholders and decision-makers at local to international levels.

A focus of the next three years is to develop and deliver a major commission to make the case for creative education at a global level. We aim to establish which national education strategy performs best on creativity and innovation on various metrics, informed by evidence-based and internationally constructed arguments. This will cover primary, secondary and tertiary education, and co-curricular and lifelong learning.

About you

With deep experience of public policy and institutional strategy, you should have an excellent understanding of the UK political system and public policy environment. You should be a good strategist, having developed initiatives and campaigns that create measurable change. You should have high-level influencing skills, with a broad national and local network in   related fields. You should have experience of supporting and developing policy engagement plans for senior decision-makers. You must be an excellent writer and presenter for all audiences. A close interest in higher education and the creative economy is desirable.

In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, a final salary pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.
