The opportunity

UAL is looking for a Staff Development Consultant to join the diverse and talented People Strategy hub team within HR. This is an exciting time to be joining UAL; we have a new University Strategy, and the new People Strategy will be launched imminently. Anti-racism, Inclusion, Social Purpose are core UAL priorities and the Staff Development team will be focused on these areas to support staff and students to reach their full potential.

The role will work on full learning cycle of activities including designing, curating, procuring, developing, delivering and evaluating development programmes including induction, personal effectiveness, digital and management and leadership development, working with subject matter experts in the EDI and digital teams as appropriate, to provide a range of activities in various formats and available on different digital platforms. This includes blended programmes, eLearning, in person and virtual group sessions and briefings.

About you

You will have extensive staff development experience covering the full training cycle, with internal consultancy and coaching skills, preferably gained in large complex organisations. Your experience will range from delivering core programming to managing large-scale roll out programmes. You will also use your facilitation skills to deliver induction programmes, personal effectiveness programmes and work with external providers to keep our management development and digital offering relevant and up to date.

In practice, you should have experience of:

  • Identifying learning needs and developing programmes aligned to strategy
  • Designing, curating, and facilitating training and events
  • Project managing and delivering large scale rollout learning projects
  • Building relationships and trust in large complex organisations
  • Collaborating with colleagues with the SD, OD teams, EDI and the wider HR team
