The opportunity

As Year Leader for BA Textile Design, you will assume responsibility for the academic leadership and management of the year/level and you will also take responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the curriculum.

The role requires that you preside over the day to day management of the year/level including all areas of learning, teaching and assessment of students as well as resource allocation whilst observing and implementing the policies and procedures of the University and the College. The successful applicant will play a key role in the recruitment and ongoing development of this course.

We seek to recruit two x 0.6 Senior Lecturers to fill newly designed Year Leader posts. 

  • Post 1 will be responsible for the first year cohort
  • Post 2 will be responsible for the second year cohort  

One Year Leader will have an expertise in print, the other can map to/or across the other disciplines of weave, knit or stitch. Candidates should indicate which post/s they are applying for in the personal statement on the application.

About you

A postgraduate and /or undergraduate qualification appropriate to the subject area of Textile Design, experience of course administration, assessment processes and procedures are essential for the role.  To inspire students and staff alike, you must be a leading practitioner in your field and always up-to-date with the latest developments in the industry.  You will maintain strong links with design practitioners from a wide range of professions, subjects and disciplines and build collaborative links with a range of institutions and employers.  You will have confidence in managing large groups and communicating in a range of learning environments, including large and small studio spaces and lecture theatre and seminar spaces.
