The opportunity

UAL is looking for a Staff Development Learning Manager to join the diverse and talented People Strategy hub team within HR. This is an exciting time to be joining UAL; we have a new University Strategy, and the new People Strategy will be launched imminently. Anti-racism, Inclusion, Social Purpose are core UAL priorities and the Staff Development team will be focused on these areas to support staff and students to reach their full potential. 

You will have responsibility for the following: 

  • Delivery of learning operating plans, programmes, projects and events aligned to UAL strategy, people strategy and University priorities 
  • Ensuring structures, systems and processes are in place to support a Staff Development  service that is inclusive and accessible to all staff, and delivers an excellent user experience 
  • Providing a dedicated staff development consultancy service to a University Service Area or College alongside an HR Business Partner 
  • Work closely with People Strategy Hub Heads (Staff Development (SD), Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Organisational Development (OD), and their managers to provide a cohesive People Strategy Hub service 
  • Build, maintain effective relationships with SD stakeholders and continuously network to extend these relationships and deepen the SD’s understanding of the University’s priorities and challenges 
  • You will also provide direction for UAL’s internal network of qualified coaches and deliver sessions for the accredited programme for new coaches and you will have an appropriate coaching qualification equivalent to a minimum of level 5 ILM.
 

About you

You will be an experienced and suitably qualified Learning Manager or Staff Development Consultant with a track record of delivering learning programmes, projects and events aligned to organisational strategy, people strategy and organisational priorities. You will be qualified to MCIPD level or similar, with experience of leading and developing teams to deliver on projects, using metrics to demonstrate tangible outcomes. You will have knowledge of the most up to date learning and development approaches and undertake research and benchmarking to ensure the staff development keeps pace and adapts accordingly to the evolving capability needs of UAL.
