The opportunity

The Refugee Journalism Project is an initiative based at London College of Communications. It supports refugee and exiled journalists rebuild their careers in the UK by offering workshops, mentoring and internships. As Project Administrator, you will work closely with the Project Director to assist in all aspects of project delivery and evaluation. You will be required to: 

  • Coordinate and service Project Management Group meetings
  • Manage the scheduling and organisation of workshops and training for participants
  • Build and manage monthly reports and project evaluation tools.
  • Assist the Project Director and UAL departments to develop and deliver events to communicate Refugee Journalism Project activities.
  • Manage the project inbox, respond to queries by email, phone and online discussion boards.
  • Manage the project’s social media accounts.
  • Keep in regular contact with all participants, proactively keeping them updated on the project and ensuring relevant materials and information is distributed.
  • Administer travel and other out of pocket expenses for participants and volunteers and maintain records of expenditure

You will also play a lead role in supporting the project’s participants/ core beneficiaries, and build strong relations with the project’s stakeholders, which include The Guardian Foundation, The Refugee Council and Google News Labs.

About you

You will have great interpersonal and communication skills, and an interest in migration issues. Having experience of working in an administrative role, and/or in project management is an essential requirement. Experience of working in the creative, HE or third sector is desirable.
