The opportunity

The Senior Lecturer in Dramaturgy and Performance for Film and Television is responsible for teaching, course development, and on-going scholarship on the BA (Hons) Film and Television course. We are looking for subject expertise in dramaturgy and performance to teach theory, analysis and artistic judgement for the production practice. You will draw on your practitioner or practice experience in the creative industries together with the theoretical, cultural and critical analysis of fiction and factual film and programme making, to develop the teaching of International and European drama and performance styles and genres.

Requirements of the role:


  • Undergraduate degree in film, television, drama or associated subject.
  • Experience of teaching & assessment in a higher education environment (permanent, fractional, or hourly paid contract)

  • Shows commitment to understanding the range of students’ experiences within a course

  • Higher degree (e.g. MA) in relevant or associated subject (Desirable)
  • PhD or Higher-level research degree (Desirable)
  • Teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent) (Desirable)
  • Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (Desirable)
