The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Media School at London College of Communication.

Lecturer Communications and Media

You will join our established team of academics and visiting industry practitioners teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Communications and Media programme, including our courses in Media Communications, Public Relations and Advertising. You will already have experience of teaching these or related subjects in Higher Education. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with expertise in media, culture and communications studies with specific reference to digital and social media practice, theory and research methods. As lecturer you will take responsibility for the management and coordination of relevant units, and other related duties as determined by the Course Leader and/or Programme Director. You will support the management of the course and course units as appropriate. You will be aware of current areas of research in media communications and related disciplines and produce original research outputs and scholarly activity in your own area of specialism.

About you

We are looking for an established academic who can contribute to the development and delivery of courses in this programme. You will have significant teaching experience and a proven track record of delivering a high quality student experience, including contribution to curriculum development, delivery and assessment. You will be committed to a teaching approach that integrates theory and practice. You will have or be willing to study for a relevant teaching qualification. A PhD is desirable, or you will be able to evidence research and scholarly activity in a relevant subject and knowledge of the latest developments in the subject area. In addition, you will have experience of providing academic and pastoral support to students, of monitoring student progress and maintaining appropriate records, and of undertaking general unit management responsibilities. You will have a strong commitment to the advancement of your field and have an ability to work as part of a team.
