The opportunity

This post holder will deliver inspiring and challenging teaching to all three years of Print and Time Based Media students, through a variety of teaching methods such as lecturers, seminars, group and 1:1 tutorials, visits to galleries and museums and other locations of interest. As well as this, you will provide occasional delivery to other Fine Art students.

The post holder will take on the responsibility of Unit Leader, undertaking the associated administration and quality assurance related to the delivery of specified unit(s)

The student experience is at the heart of what we do, and your ideas and vision for the development and delivery of the contextual practice curriculum will be routed in the student experience. Within the Fine Art Programme ethos at Wimbledon, the contextual practice element is seen as an integral part of the development of students’ fine art studio practice.

The role will require close and productive working relationships with other contextual practice staff, the Print and Time Based Media Pathway Leader and other subject staff to ensure subject relevance and currency. You will contribute to the development of a new ‘Inspiration and Insights’ contextual practice strand which will enhance and underpin the Wimbledon vision statement.

About you

You will have a degree and postgraduate qualification in a related subject area, and preferably a recognised teaching qualification. You will have knowledge of the theories and current discourses relating to Print and Time Based Media, and Fine Art in general and will understand the issues relating to theory, practice and research in fine art education.

You will have experience of teaching at undergraduate level, preferably in the contextual practice area, and will have experience of assessment and providing constructive verbal and written feedback.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of curriculum management at Unit/Module level, course organisation and management, and course/curriculum development.

You will be an excellent communicator with a demonstrable ability to contribute positively to a course team, as well as contributing to the wider Fine Art, Wimbledon and UAL communities.

In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, an attractive pension scheme and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity.

If you have any queries about this role that are not covered in the available documentation, please contact Christine Crouch, Staffing Administrator, email jobs.ccw@arts.ac.uk.
