The opportunity

Wimbledon College of Arts is developing a new School of Performance Arts that will be a leading centre of excellence for contemporary acting and performance. We now have an exciting opportunity for a highly ambitious practitioner to play a pivotal role in the development of our distinctive approach to teaching acting and performance in an Arts School environment.

As the Course Leader: BA (Hons) Acting and Performance, you’ll be responsible for the academic leadership and management of a rapidly growing course, including responsibility for the organisation and delivery of the curriculum, creation of an exciting pedagogical practice, and enhancing the courses industry profile and relevance. You’ll also work with the School in developing innovative cross-disciplinary collaborations.

You’ll also be expected to conduct professional performance practice and/or performance research and to contribute to knowledge exchange projects with our partners. You’ll therefore be required to demonstrate a rising professional profile and/or evidence a strong track-record of practice-based or scholarly research outputs of international significance.

If you can embrace the innovation of placing acting and performance within an arts school ethos of experimentation and enquiry, opening up the teaching of contemporary acting and performance to new possibilities and audiences, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About you

You’ll be a recognised authority in contemporary acting and performance, with demonstrable professional experience. You’ll have a postgraduate degree in Acting, Theatre and Performance or a related academic discipline, and a significant track-record of research and practical experience of contemporary acting processes and methods.

Prior experience of course leadership and management at HE level is essential as is experience of shaping and influencing developments within a university/college/organisation through course leadership.

UAL offers generous leave, an attractive pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.
