The opportunity

An exciting new Lecturer vacancy has arisen in the Performance Design and Technologies Programme at Wimbledon College of Arts, within the subject area of BA Theatre Design, for a Lecturer post in Digital practice.


As a Lecturer within the Theatre Design Team you will be responsible for contributing to and developing the exciting new course’s academic direction and delivery, developing hybrid technologies within the area of Performance design.


To compliment the current team’s academic portfolio we are particularly interested in applicants with specialist experience in digital drafting for theatre and performance and associated skills, with competencies in both analogue and digital formats.   

With a suitable, professional manner you will be an agile collaborator within the team. Your specialist and generalist knowledge will contribute to both the Theatre Design Course at BA (with some additional engagement with students at MA level) and the wider Performance Design and Technologies academic profile. Your knowledge and skills will ensure subject relevance, currency and innovation in the subject area. The post holder will take on the responsibility of Unit Leader, undertaking the associated administration and quality assurance related to the delivery of specified unit(s). You will be required to work closely and professionally with students and staff members at all levels. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of the course and wider programme when required. Main duties will involve any associated administration and quality assurance to ensure the smooth running of BA (Hons) Theatre Design

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

a background in the area of theatre/performance design, holding a degree and a postgraduate qualification in a related subject area or equivalent demonstrated through practice

recognised teaching qualification

knowledge and experience of theatre/performance design within an  industry and research context 

experience of teaching at undergraduate level, assessment and student feedback

experience of the associated administrative and quality requirements

experience of curriculum development and management (ideal). 

excellent communication skills 

the ability to collaborate as part of an academic team as well as contributing to the wider Theatre & Screen, Wimbledon and UAL communities.

We are particularly interested in candidates that demonstrate model making in a variety of mediums and show an aptitude in innovation or research in areas such as using new technologies within the subject area of theatre design/stage architectures.
