The opportunity

The Senior Lecturer in Creative Research Skills is responsible for teaching, course development, academic delivery within the course programmes and for on-going scholarship relating to the programme’s subject areas. This course is within the Performance Design and Technologies programme and part of the School of Performance at Wimbledon College of Arts. The post-holder will work collaboratively within a course team. They will deploy specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions, using Creative Research Skills, to encourage a new approach to research techniques within the Performance Design and Technologies Programme, designed to synthesise theory and enquiry with wider design practice.

 

The post-holder will be expected to undertake the following duties:

  • Responsibility for academic leadership, delivery and curriculum development of the undergraduate BA and postgraduate MA courses within the Performance Design and Technologies Programme ensuring that the policies and procedures are upheld and implemented.
  • Overseeing students’ pastoral support, progress and attendance, assessment processes and maintaining records and coordinating the delivery standards for the core teams working in the programme.
  • To oversee and lead the delivery of Creative Research Skills and support the specialist course areas through supporting research, knowledge exchange and pedagogic agendas within the Performance Design and Technologies Programme.
  • Delivering pedagogic and curriculum development which stimulates thought and practices with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity.
  • Promotes innovative teaching, knowledge exchange and research and industry development opportunities.
 

About you

Requirements of the role:

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant subject.
  • Higher degree (e.g. MA) in relevant subject such as Cultural Studies, Performance Design and/ or Screen based design practice, or equivalent demonstrated through professional practice (Desirable)
  • PhD or Higher level research degree (Desirable).
  • Experience of teaching & assessment in a Higher Education environment (permanent, fractional, or hourly paid contract).
  • Applies an inquiring, innovative and reflexive approach to teaching.
  • Considers equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching practice.
  • Shows commitment to understanding the range of students’ experiences within a course.
  • Collaborates and works effectively within team and across professional groups.
