The opportunity

BA Product and Industrial Design (BAPID) is a Queens Anniversary Prize-winning undergraduate course based at Central Saint Martins in King's Cross, London. BAPID is recognised for its outward-looking disposition and the creativity and employability of its graduates. As part of the Product Ceramic and Industrial Design programme, it's committed to an ethos of creative ambition, collaboration, and making through design as a practice that transforms, is anticipatory, and adaptive to the benefit of people enterprises and the environment.

The course is now looking to recruit knowledgeable, empathic and enthusiastic individuals to join the teaching team. 

You will be a significant contributor to the student learning experience providing guidance, encouragement and inspiration for our future design leaders. To achieve this, you are expected to provide: 

- Rigorous academic leadership to ensure the quality of learning and teaching 

 - Effective management skills 

- Industry and community engagement activities to keep the course at the forefront of design practice 

- Curriculum design, content and organisation that provides parity and fairness 

- Activities to support student pastoral care 

This is an opportunity for you to join a team devoted to equality, diversity and inclusivity in the sector. We have two part-time roles at 0.4FTE and 1 position at 0.6FTE.

About you

We are looking for applicants with experience in the Product and Industrial Design sector with at least an undergraduate degree in this discipline or associated subject. You may have a wide range of skills, or be specialised in a particular aspect of the sector. You will have experience of teaching and assessment within a higher education environment.

As a role model for our students, you will be creative and have an inquiring, innovative and reflexive approach to teaching. You will consider equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of your teaching. You will work effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people.

With a combination of academic and industry experiences, you will be able to effectively navigate the processes and dynamics of both the educational and professional aspects of the Product and Industrial design sector and developments within both education and industry.
