The opportunity

The BA (Hons) Film and Television is a well-established and highly successful course and due for reapproval (revalidation) for 21/22 delivery. This course resides within the Screen School alongside a portfolio of courses which promote an inspiring environment for collaboration and storytelling. For details of the current structure of BA (Hons) Film & Television please refer to the details on the course web page.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is committed to developing a creative curriculum for graduates looking to enter the film and television industry as creative practitioners. As Course Leader you will be responsible for developing the academic direction and the film and television practices for reapproval and onwards. The position invites applicants who are keen to promote inclusion and cultural diversity, enable creative, collaborative, theoretical and technical aspects of storytelling and production (multi TV studio and single-camera) for the students’ learning.

 

As the Course Leader you will have responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the curriculum, including the management of learning, teaching and assessment of students, the maintenance and enhancement of standards and resource allocation. You will lead and manage the course team and will be responsible to the Programme Director for the academic leadership and management of this course. You will bring industry experience and teaching experience at undergraduate level. As a practitioner you will participate in the delivery of teaching of your practice and research opportunities. You will work alongside the other Course Leaders to contribute to School, College and University initiatives.

About you

You will bring skills and knowledge from a proven industry track record in filmmaking and/or TV studio production together with teaching experience and academic authority in an HE environment.

You have demonstrated the ability to motivate a diverse student population to think creatively, critically and carry their ideas into production with constructive feedback. This is complemented by excellent administrative and organisational skills relevant to the requirements of student experience, course delivery and development within an academic context. You possess good interpersonal skills with ability to lead, manage and work alongside full and part time staff as an excellent team player.
